Layoffs can happen suddenly, so always be prepared.

I have been hearing from people recently being let go at work, which is a wake-up call for everyone.

Companies are laying off employees left & right, and the way it is handled can be disheartening.

I keep hearing about some are given just a week’s notice or no notice at all, kept busy until their final day with extra tasks and meetings, only to be met with silence the next day—no messages, no support.

This experience is a clear sign that, in the end, you may be just another number.

Companies will make tough decisions when they need to, so it’s essential to look out for yourself and stand out in the market:

– Track your work and achievements.
– Invest time in building strong & meaningful workplace connections.
– Start building in public through GitHub or other REAL projects
– Start including AI tools to make your work easier
– Save money and focus on upskilling.
– Use your vacation days to recharge.
– Find mentors and strong leaders to learn from them.
– Prioritize your mental and physical health.

Always be prepared for change and adapt to the changing times.
